Whinfell School was founded in 2003 by a group of professionals who share a common belief that young people with autism are better able to learn,
cope and develop in an environment that:
- is part of a local community, not placed in a remote setting
- is small, relaxed and homely, not a large, noisy and confusing institution
- allows for individual teaching and small group sessions
- genuinely caters for each young person’s individual needs
- strives to make young people feel safe and good about themselves
- promotes unconditional acceptance of diversity and challenges discrimination
